Egypt Sudan Celebration drink in Africa. Bissap (dried Hibiscus flowers) is washed and boiled until coloration of the cooking water, then the cooled solution is filtered. Sugar, nutmeg, and water of orange blossom can be added, or even tamarine juice, Baobab fruit juice, fresh ginger, lemongrass, etc. Bissap juice is also drunk in Senegal, Guinea (national drink), Mali (dableni), Ivory Coast, Egypt and Soudan (karkade). Bissap is drunk chilled or as a herbal tea. Hibiscus is part of the traditional african pharmacopeia and is used to treat many pains.
