Ternary branles include jumped steps that are more tiring and dedicated to young dancers. Dancers, boys and girls intertwined, join hands. The basic step is simple or double.
Double branle : 2 steps on the left, 2 steps on the right.
Simple branle : 2 steps on the left, one step on the right.

Different types of branles : in Brittany An-dro, in Macedony : Lesnoto (open chain that progress to the right), in Hungary Csárdás (often 2 steps on the right 2 steps on the left).
