Sugar cane (Juice) Caldo de cana

Juice of sugar cane with a pronounced vegetal taste. Sometimes lime is added to decorate. This ultrasweet drink is sold everywhere, in the street, in markets, etc. Garapa means "sugar juice" in portugese and is made of peeled sugar canes that are liquefied by a press machine.

Refreshing water of the green coconut, cut out with a machete by street salesmen. Also sold in bottles. Just delicious !

Traditional drink of the indians. Mix the guarana powder with water to obtain an energetic drink with a caracteristic bitter taste. Nothing to do with the soda.

National beverage of South-Brazil, to be drunk burning ! The green grass is dried, chopped, and prepared as a herbal tea in a small individual calabash. A cultural experience as much as a drink, Chimarrão is a special tea shared with friends. It's a stimulating drink, like tea or coffee. The plant leaves figure on french pharmacopeia as a tonic.

Everywhere in Brazil fresh mixed juices are served. In Amazonia exotic fruits abound : cupuaçu, açaí, bacuri, mangaba... Sometimes fruits are presented as frized pulp cubes mixed with water. If mixed with milk, that makes a vitamina. Moreover some fruits (banana, papaya...) are only prepared as vitaminas.
